We believe it is important to continually invest in our homes, not only to be able to offer greater capacity to the community, but also to look for ways in which to improve the lives of our residents and staff.

Extending our homes is often not an easy task, with challenges to gain planning permission, but we have had success in two of our homes adding bedrooms and facilities.

Major extension at Meadows

The Meadows, based in Scartho Village, has recently completed a major extension which changed the front entrance area, (making it more accessible and open plan), created a second ‘quiet’ lounge and added two new en-suite bedrooms and upgrading the car park.

As part of the refurbishment we also took the opportunity to widen doorways and create a new family room which can be used to meet with families in a private environment. This new room, which was the old staff room, will also serve as a training room.

We have also refurbished the lounge and dining room areas, replaced carpets and bathroom upgrades started in July. This is part of our ongoing refurbishment programme but, as we all know how disruptive decorating and building work can be in our own homes, we are being very careful to make these changes in as sympathetic and non-disruptive way as possible.

Next on our agenda for Meadows is to add a sensory garden to enhance the outside space.

New wing at Stallingborough Lodge

205 also saw improvements at Stallingborough Lodge with the building of a new wing which will give us four new en-suite bedrooms and a dayroom. The work was completed in the Autumn and we are now starting to refurbish areas of the main building. There are also plans to further add rooms to Stallingborough in the future.
